Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Yongzhi Ong (“we”, “us”, “our”) — the operator of pickerbird.com (the “Site”) — collects, uses, and protects personal data when you join our pre-launch waitlist. We are committed to data minimisation: we collect as little as possible, and we do not sell your data.
Pickerbird is a privacy-focused product still in development. This Site is a pre-launch landing page whose only interactive feature is an email waitlist.
Who this applies to
The waitlist is open to people worldwide. When you sign up, you tell us which country you are in, so we can understand where interest in Pickerbird is coming from. Providing accurate information helps us, but the choice is yours.
What we collect
We collect only what the waitlist needs:
- Email address — so we can confirm your sign-up and send you product/launch updates you have opted in to.
- Country — which you select at sign-up, so we can understand where interest is coming from.
- “Using this for” (optional). When you join, you can optionally tell us whether you’re signing up as an individual or for a team or organisation. This is entirely optional — the selector includes a “Prefer not to say” choice, selected by default, so you can submit the form without answering. If you don’t answer, we store nothing for this field.
- The page that referred you (collected automatically). When you submit the form, we automatically record the single page on our Site that brought you to the waitlist — for example, an article you followed a “Join the waitlist” link from — or nothing, if you came to the landing page directly. This is one page reference only: no browsing history, no cookies, and nothing stored on your device, and we don’t share it. Unlike the optional item above, this is collected automatically as part of your submission and cannot be turned off separately from signing up.
- Consent record — the date and time you confirmed your sign-up, and the version of this notice you agreed to, kept as proof that consent was given.
We do not collect your name, phone number, postal address, payment details, or any special-category (sensitive) data. We do not operate user accounts or logins.
How we use it, and our lawful basis
We use your data solely to operate the waitlist: to send you a confirmation email, to send you updates about Pickerbird’s development, launch, and availability that you have opted in to, and to keep an auditable record of your consent.
Our lawful basis is your consent, given through a double opt-in process (you enter your email, then confirm via a link we email you). You can withdraw consent at any time (see Your rights and Unsubscribing).
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making, and we do not sell or rent it.
Cookies and analytics
We do not use tracking or advertising cookies, and we do not use Google Analytics or similar profiling tools. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and cookieless — it does not use cookies or fingerprinting and does not build a profile of individual visitors. Because we set no tracking cookies, no cookie-consent banner is required.
Who we share it with (processors)
We use a small number of trusted service providers (“processors”) to run the Site. Each only processes data as needed to provide its service:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — website hosting and content delivery; our waitlist database; bot/spam protection on the sign-up form (Cloudflare Turnstile); and privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics.
- Resend — delivery of confirmation and update emails. Privacy policy: https://resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- GitHub, Inc. — storage of encrypted backups of our waitlist data.
We do not otherwise share your personal data, except where required by law.
Where your data is stored, and international transfers
Your data is stored and processed using service providers that may be located outside your country, so your data may be transferred internationally. Where this happens, we rely on those providers’ data-protection safeguards and the minimal, encrypted nature of the data. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and backups are encrypted.
How long we keep it
We keep your data only as long as needed for the waitlist — until our product launch plus a limited follow-up period, or until you unsubscribe, whichever is sooner — after which it is deleted or anonymised. If you unsubscribe, we retain a minimal suppression record (so we do not email you again) and our proof-of-consent record, and nothing more.
Unsubscribing
Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops all further emails immediately. You can also email us (below) to be removed.
Your rights
Wherever you live, and regardless of the data-protection laws that apply to you, we offer everyone the same rights over their data. You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct it if it is inaccurate;
- Erase it (“right to be forgotten”);
- Withdraw consent at any time;
- Data portability — receive your data in a portable format;
- Complain to the data-protection regulator in your country, if one applies to you.
To exercise any of these, contact us at privacy@pickerbird.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, bot/spam protection on our forms, and encrypted off-site backups. No system is perfectly secure, but our minimal data footprint keeps risk low. If a breach ever affects your data and the law requires it, we will notify the relevant regulator and, where required, you.
Children
This Site and waitlist are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we will delete the record.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our product or the law changes. The “last updated” date above reflects the latest version. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be communicated where appropriate.
